Are you going through a difficult or painful change in your life?

Do you:

  • Feel alone or isolated?
  • Struggle with sadness, confusion, anger or fear?
  • Find that friends and family members do not understand how you feel?
  • Have trouble sleeping or getting out of bed in the morning?
  • Are you having trouble concentrating or making decisions?

Transitions are a normal part of life, but they can trigger deep and unexpected feelings of anxiety or loss.  This can lead to unhealthy coping behaviors and prevent us from moving forward in a healthy way. Some of life’s most difficult transitions include:

  • Loss of loved one (including pets)
  • Long-term or life-threatening illness
  • Loss of mobility/independence
  • Living alone
  • Children leaving home
  • Retirement
  • Conflict in relationships
  • Coping with effects of childhood trauma/abuse

How Therapy Can Help

Many difficult situations resolve themselves over time. Some situations, however, may seem overwhelming and cause us to become very vulnerable. We may experience anxiety or depression which interferes with normal functioning and leaves us feeling alone and helpless. Developing new ways of coping, or new ways of looking at values and beliefs, can help us transcend these feelings and  create new opportunities for peace and meaning in our lives.

Throughout my career, I have helped men and women to:

  • Heal emotions and emptiness accompanying a loss.
  • Create a new role and sense of purpose
  • Cope with long-term or life-threatening illness.
  • Address the unique concerns related to aging.
  • Resolve relationship and parenting conflicts.
  • Overcome childhood trauma/abuse.
  • Develop effective self-care strategies.
